Buonos Dias!
A rainy hello from Barcelona!
An update for everyone, though I'm sure most have already heard - we had a bit of delay getting into Barcelona.
Last night, for reasons we can only assume was due to the weather, our overnight train to Barcelona was cancelled. The station responded as quickly as they could to this cancellation (as well as dealing with the influx of travelers coming from cancelled flights) and provided us with an express train to Barcelona in the morning as well as complementary dinner and breakfast and several sleeping accommodation options.
The night continued without incident, however I'm sure the experience is one that will stick out as stories of this trip are recounted over the years.
The rest of the travel to Barcelona was without hiccup and most students took the opportunity to sleep on the trains. We were met in a rainy Barcelona from our guide and taken to our hotel.
With a quick turnaround, we were back on the road for our first tour of Barcelona exploring the Marina Museum followed by an extraordinary Barcelona meal...
Starters included fresh salad with anchovies and plates of select cured meats, followed by plates of calamari and amazing muscles. Remember, this was just the start... We then had Seafood (or chicken) Paella - a local specialty - and a delicious chocolate creme dessert.
Things are looking gastronomically promising for our time here, and we've only just begun!
Tomorrow we continue our tours to Gaudi's Sacra Famiglia - a definite Barcelona highlight!
In the meantime, I'm still working on getting pictures up on the blog but will hopefully have some up shortly.
Asta luego!
